Junta Suspended Suvarnabhumi Airport Extension



THAILAND : --  The Military ordered Bangkok's Airport to be suspended,National council for peace and order (NCPO)installed.

 Mr.Mekhanin Petchplai said panel advised the airport authorities to shelve the plan of extending its facilities.

A state official said the extension plan,called 'PHASE TWO' can accommdate more visitors to Bangkok
International Airport.

Suvarnabhumi Airport has already reach the maximum capacity,said Mr. mekhanin,that the airport is now containing more than 51 million passengers per year even though it was built to accommodate only 45 million visiors per year.

 Thai airport has been on the decline,partly due to political turmoil in Thailand for six months,. Airport of Thailand director admitted.

 He promised to move ahead,no going back to finish the extension by 2015,raising airport's capacity to 60 million passengers per year.
