Lady train service begins August 1
THAILAND : -- State Railway of Thailand announced today that the first lady train service will be introduced on August 1.
Train which provides service for only women and children will be on service on three main routes.
And will be a second class air-conditioned car and second-class sleeping car on three routes - north, northeast and south.
Also boys under 10 years old and no taller than 150 centimetres can also travel on these carriages.
The service is introduced on special express trains on Bangkok – Chiang Mai – Bangkok route in the North, Bangkok – Ubon Ratchathani – Bangkok route, and Bangkok – Nong Khai – Bangkok route in the Northeast, and Bangkok – Sungai Kolok – Bangkok route in the South.
These carriages was introduce following the rape and murder of a 13-year-old girl by an SRT staff member on an overnight train from Nakhon Si Thammarat to Bangkok earlier this month.
