BANGKOK - A man leaped into the Chao Phraya river
THAILAND - A man believed to be Mr Pan Pongsucharit, former deputy secretary-general of Matiphum party, was seen jumping into the Chao Phraya river from Rama IX bridge late this afternoon.
Jor Sor 100 community service radio station was alerted by a motorist who reported seeing a man, wearing white shirt and pants, park a bronze Volvo sedan in the middle of Rama IX bridge toward the Thon Buri side of the river, get off the car and then throw himself into the river.
Expressway policeman, Narongrit Krailat, later arrived at the scene, searched the Volvo and found documents bearing the name of Mr Pan Pongsucharit, 68.
A boat search was launched to locate the victim who was thought to have drowned.
