A longer holiday proposed for celebration of Queen's 82nd birthday anniversary on August 12
BANGKOK : --- Thai Toursm and Sports Ministry has proposed a National Council for peace and order(NCPO) for a longer holiday in Thailand to celebrate Her Majesty the Queen's 82 birthday anniversary.
They reasoned that since the queen's birthday August 12, falls on tuesday.By making Aug 11 an official holiday, the country would effectively get a four days weekend.
An extra day off would encourage traveling by the people and would boost tourism.
The extended holiday was proposed by TAT senior officials during a meeting with admiral Narong Pipattanasai, the deputy chairman of NCPO and also Navy commander-in-chief.
