THAILAND - 7 July 2014 (NNT) - His Majesty the King on Sunday morning privately attended a homage for Phra Chai Mongkhon's guardian spirit shrine located in Klai Kangwon Palace, at Hua Hin District.

This activity is usually held at royal command every time His Majesty moves residence at the palace. At the shrine, His Majesty lighted candles and joss sticks at the altar of worship to the guardian spirits.

With objects offered in worship to Phra Chai Mongkhon Statue.

Court Brahmins then played traditional instruments while His Majesty sprinkled lustral water on the objects of worship.

This was followed by the Chief Brahmin reading out verses of spiritual worship.

The shrine was built by King Rama VII following his dream in one night of his first visit to the Palace in 1928.

In the dream the King met a lady with four arms pronouncing herself as guardian spirit of the palace, and indicating her intention to protect the king and queen during their stay.

The next day King Rama VII ordered a royal artist to sketch a design and send it to Italy for an artist to mould a marble statue of the guardian spirit.
